Become empowered to give effective and responsible cannabis guidance while breaking through stigmas, clearing out misconceptions with scientific facts
While we are providing almost everything you need to learn including shipping you a Cannabis Sommelier Toolkit, and giving you access to digital resources, please note that we recommend you acquire your own cannabis for the best learning experience. A list of recommended cultivars will be e-mailed to you after you complete your enrolment.
If you are not able to obtain cannabis, don’t sweat, you can still learn by watching our videos. When we conduct the activities, we provide demonstrations and detailed descriptions for you to observe and learn. Just like a cooking show, you don’t need all the ingredients on hand to learn how to cook a dish.

Is this really for me?
If you’re a beginner who’s curious about the budding industry, a current industry professional who’s looking to brush up on cannabis product knowledge, or an entrepreneur looking to expand their knowledge—this course is the right answer for you! We give you solid, proven, evidence-based data that is as up to date as possible so you leave the class with all the top information.
How is this different than your in-person class?
Previously offered face-to-face in a classroom setting, we’ve made the decision to move Cannabis Sommelier Level 1 online in light of the current global pandemic. Which gives you three advantages:
- A lower price point
Cannabis Sommelier Level 1 is normally $480, but the online course is available for just $297.
- The convenience of going at your own pace
Since the program is self-guided, you can pause, review a section, or take a break as life demands without losing access.
- Learn anywhere!
The course content is accessible anytime from your computer or mobile device, as long as you have an internet connection.
This is a hybrid of an online course and live training. The bulk of the course content is offered on our website where you get a combination of videos, hands-on activities, quizzes, and reference hand-outs. The live component is during our bi-weekly Q&A sessions where we will be reviewing content, conducting interactive quality grading sessions, providing expert insights to your questions, and a chance to connect with other passionate learners. This is a great networking opportunity as most of our students actively work in the cannabis industry. As a student, you get access to the live Q&A sessions for 6 months.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like – across any and all devices you own.
What materials will I need to complete the course?
We will be shipping you a Cannabis Sommelier kit, and all other resources are available online, including handouts, quizzes, and reference tools.
For your best experience, we recommend that you have about 10.5 grams of cannabis so you can follow along in the course activities. This is not a mandatory requirement but highly recommended. Upon completion of your enrollment, we will e-mail you a list of recommended cultivars.
How long does it take to complete online?
This is a self-paced course, with a total of 8-10 hours of instructional lessons. All the topics are broken down into mini-lessons so you can stop for a break after each lesson or activity. The best experience is to take the course in sequence as the course is designed in a building block style where each lesson is a foundation for the next. The last lesson ties in all the learning provided in previous sections.
What if I am unhappy with the course?
We know the value of quality cannabis education and we would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, please contact us in the first 30 days to let us know and we will give you a refund minus the cost and shipping of the Cannabis Sommelier kit (valued at $30) as you get to keep it.
I am interested in taking Cannabis Sommelier Level 2, when will it be available?
We are considering offering parts of Level 2 content online such as the lectures and theories in the near future so please stay tuned. The interactive and sensory development components are impossible to conduct online as there is a large component of smelling and handling products. There are also regulatory restrictions preventing us from shipping out cannabis products and we must adhere to them.
Level 2 is a very fun and interactive experience, where it is worth meeting and learning with other cannabis community members. The activities we have designed include group work and the discussions among the students are very valuable to cement your learning. We hope to be able to host Level 2 sessions in select cities across Canada this fall.
